Halifax is a large market town in West Yorkshire, England. Alleys which are narrow pavements between/behind buildings can be known as snickets, ginnels, jennels or alleyways. This has led to the portmanteau word Snickelway, originally in York, though the term has become more widespread. This beautiful black and white photograph is hand made from a Bill Brandt Archive negative. Each print is on Ilford paper with a numbered stamp verso.
